I went to a techniques class today with Paula Dobson (http://stampinantics.blogspot.co.nz/) and learned “soot stamping”. It is a lot of fun (and a little messy).
Paula recommended using block images (not outline images), so I used one of my favorite stampinUp images from the inspired by nature stamp set. I found I needed to use a paint brush after stamping to get more soot off the paper (helping to make sure the image stands out).
I decided to pop the result into my art journal.
I am working on an art journal during the weekends. This photo shows you my entry for this weekend 23 – 24 February. I was in a bit of a minimalist mood. I copied the idea for the left page from creatErin (http://imcreaterin.blogspot.co.nz/2013/02/ah-memory-box.html)
I really love Penny Black’s animal stamps, and this particular one reminds me so much of my cat Justin. I thought this card fits nicely into the “up in the air” challenge for Less is More this week, and after a year of watching everyone else’s entries, decided to enter a card myself. (update: just missed the deadline!)
A card that fits with the Less is More Challenge “up in the air”.
